Introduction
Marple Bridge is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport in the South East corner of Greater Manchester. It is a predominantly stone-built village with a population of about 2,700, lying in a picturesque valley on the banks of the River Goyt, just to the north east of Marple. To the north and east are the villages of Compstall and Mill Brow. It is close to the junction of the Peak Forest Canal and the Macclesfield Canal.
